Opening ceremony for e-Scooter charging station located in Woori Bank Riverside branch which located in front of Royal Palace, held by Korean public sector Korean Energy Agency(KEA) and private sector Korea Overseas Development and Consulting (KODAC).

Phnom Penh :The Korea Energy Agency(KEA) and the Korea Overseas Development and Consulting(KODAC), based in the Republic of Korea, together with the VERYWORDS organized an Opening ceremony for the e-Scooter Charging station located in front of Royal Palace, Woori Bank Cambodia Riverside branch on 25th of October, 2023. The title of this project is “Establishment of Cambodia e-Mobility Plan using Solar Power and Capacity Building Project”. The Charging station installed as part of the project is funded by Korean public sector KEA, after the energy supply stage, which promotes rational and efficient use of energy, promotes the supply of new and renewable energy, and revitalizes industries.

At the event, MME’s Director of Department of Technique and Energy Business Policy, Mr. Chhuon Sambath Ratanak, Project Manager Kwon Ho of KODAC, Chun ManJong Country Director of Verywords, and Woori Bank Cambodia Director of operations support attended as representatives.

KEA has been carrying out various projects to promote the use of new and renewable energy in Southeast Asia through ODA. And Since 2021, KODAC has been providing policy consulting for carbon neutrality to the Cambodian MME as part of the “Establishment of Cambodia e-Mobility Plan using Solar Power and Capacity Building Project” and has supported its own capacity building program and various equipment.

Verywords Country Director Cheon Man-jong, who attended the event, made a remark, “Through this project, we plan to share experience and know-how in the field of new and renewable energy technology and e-mobility in Cambodia, and we will continue to cooperate between the Korean side and the Cambodian government.” He added, “It is an honor to install a charging station at Woori Bank branches, a well-known commercial bank in Cambodia. Through this project, it will cause a positive synergy effect between Woori Bank and Verywords and also praise Woori Bank’s commitment to ESG management.”

In response, KODAC Project Manager Kwon Ho made a remark, “I hope that the installation of a charging station at Woori Bank Cambodia will serve as a stepping stone for the spread of e-Mobility in Cambodia, and we will do our best to respond to climate change and resolve pollution and noise problems in Cambodia through close cooperation with Korean and Cambodian government agencies. We will do our best.” he said.

Before the Opening Ceremony, Cambodian MME officials, KODAC, and Verywords participated in a capacity building program that included theoretical lectures and case study training on various policies and activation measures to revitalize e-mobility in Cambodia.

Through this event, both sides promised to do their best to ensure the success of e-Mobility distribution in Cambodia through understanding of each other’s roles and networking. ៕ អត្ថបទសហការ
